On this Addis Ababa food tour you will:

On this culinary tour First visit either Merkato or Shola market. Next go to three different traditional restaurants in Addis Ababa and taste different types of traditional food (included in price) while getting to know the culture of Ethiopia. You can also get involved in the preparation and making of Ethiopian food (i.e. baking of enjera and traditional coffee ceremony at a local home) but if you are taking this activity, you will have to skip going to one of the restaurants.
If your program is inclusive of dinner, you will get a chance to see traditional dancing ceremony at Dessanech Kitfo near the airport before your Addis Ababa food tour ends.
The tour is specially suitable for tourists who are in transit and who have limited amount of time to spend in Addis. All of this is inclusive of airport transfers only before and after you finished your sightseeing.

Our tour was really a great experience. We tried multiple local fresh dishes. Visiting the buchers district was definitely something I won’t easily forget but despite initial worry, the freshly prepared dish there was equally amazing. Emmanuel invited us to his house where his family prepared a meal and coffee from scratch - we left with plenty of great memories and full bellies! Definitely recommend.

Being in Addis for a conference I took the occasion to make a day tour of the city. To make it short: My tour with with Afro Ethiopia was great!! My guide, Meki, was wonderful. She was nice, passionate about her job and knew everything about the history, culture and traditions of the country and the city. The tour was a real immersion into Addis and I enjoyed it a lot. So, if you come to Ethiopia make sure to take a tour with Afro Ethiopia and Meki.

Tedi was a more than a guide, more like a very knowledgeable host. He took into account our food preferences and added a lot about Addis itself and did not rush us and certainly knew his way around. We also appreciate our contact from the company Meklit Dedebe who was very flexible taking into account two flight delays that must have caused some inconvenience for her. She was also an excellent host in inducting us in local eating customs at the beautiful Dessalech Kitfo & Cultural Music Hall. Thank you so much for a full experience of Addis.

This was out first visit to Addis Ababa. The city is very busy but with the great service from Meklit, we were given a great tour of the city. In particular we asked for a food tour in Addis Ababa e she perfectly guided us into merkato and other many local restaurant! She also hosted us in her home to make us tried the best injera in all the city! ( her mom's one). Great experience, We will never forget!
