Day 1: Arrival in Harar & City Exploration

  • Upon arrival in Harar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich cultural and historical heritage, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.
  • Accommodation: Grand Gato Hotel and Tours, Harar.

  • Begin your exploration with a guided tour of Harar Jugol, the ancient walled city, celebrated for its unique architecture and deep historical significance.
  • Visit some of Harar's famous 82 mosques and 102 shrines, including the magnificent Grand Mosque, which reflects the city's strong Islamic heritage.

  • In the evening, experience one of Harar's most iconic traditions by witnessing the fascinating Hyena Feeding Ceremony, where the famous "Hyena Man" feeds wild hyenas by hand.

Day 2: Cultural and Scenic Tour of Harar – Return to Addis Ababa

Destination: Harar / Addis Ababa

After breakfast, continue exploring the cultural treasures of Harar.

  • Visit the colourful and lively Harar Markets, offering a wonderful opportunity to observe local life and shop for authentic handmade souvenirs.
  • Explore the historic Emperor's Palace, an architectural blend of Ethiopian and Islamic influences that reflects Harar's rich past.
  • Visit the revered House of Saints, an important religious site that highlights the spiritual significance of Harar.
  • Stroll through the narrow lanes of the ancient Walled City, stopping at the famous Harar city gates and admiring the traditional houses and charming alleyways.
  • Enjoy a traditional Ethiopian lunch at one of Harar's well-known local restaurants.
  • Conclude your tour by discovering the hidden treasures of Harar Jugol, featuring centuries-old buildings, historical landmarks, and fascinating cultural artefacts.

Later in the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.

Day 3: Exploring Addis Ababa

After breakfast, embark on a guided city tour of Ethiopia's vibrant capital, Addis Ababa.

  • Drive up to Mount Entoto for breathtaking panoramic views of Addis Ababa and visit the historic churches and former imperial residences located on the mountain.

  • Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy some leisure time for last-minute shopping or relaxation.
