The classic daily tour to two UNESCO sites in Bulgaria! In 8 hours you will learn about the history of Bulgaria, will visit Boyana church and the famous Rila Monastery, important for the world heritage for their unique frescoes and historical value to the pre-Rennaisance period! You will also enjoy beautiful landscape and tasty food!
At the chosen by you pick-up time you will be collected from your hotel or another type of accomodation.
After about a two-hour drive we will arrive at the Rila monastery - the most significant Christian Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria. Our sightseeing will include a comprehensive explanation not only of the courtyard of the monastery but also an introduction to Bulgarian history as the existence of the monastery is tightly connected to it. After about of 2 hours of sightseeing (which depends on your interest in to details and desire to visit some or all of the monastery museums, we have planned a lunch break time.
Following this we wil then drive back in Sofia direction in order to make it on time for the preliminary booked time slot for our visit to the Boyana church. As it is another UNESCO heritage site, it is under their control to have a visit of 10 minutes (!) as being part of another group (groups can be of maximum size of 10 people) which still will allow us to learn and see the most significant frescoes of the Pre-Rennaisance times. Certainly, after our visit, we can devote a little bit more time to explore around the church (which is not active, it is a museum) and you will hear again some more details of Bulgarian history.
Around 5 pm we will drive back to your hotel.
Please NOTE:
Visiting the Rila monastery requires appropriate clothing - no bear shoulders nor too short skirts or shorts for the ladies. Wearing also comfortable footwear like boots or sneakers or another type of good shoes is highly recommended as the courtyard is rough cobblestones. Accoriding to the season having umbrellas or proper jacket is also to recommend.
