  • Shared tour

Hike to Panauti from Sanga, on the edge of the Kathmandu Valley, through rolling farmland and ethnic Tamang villages, with fantastic views across hills and mountains.

Make the journey to Panauti into more of an adventure by hiking there. The 10-kilometre Sanga to Panauti community hike is a moderate trail that has only recently been developed. Leaving the highway (and the giant golden Shiva statue) at Sanga, on the eastern edge of the Kathmandu Valley, the trail passes along ridgelines, through villages, forests, and farmland, and offers great views down to Banepa, across the hills, and over to the high Himalaya when the sky is clear. The descent into Panauti is a particularly attractive part of the hike, and you’ll end the day with a well-deserved meal with the members of the Panauti Community Homestay. The hike can also be done in the opposite direction, from Panauti to Sanga.

Hike start from the giant statue of Lord Shiva at Sanga.

Pass through villages, forest and farmland offering great views down to Banepa.

View over the high Himalaya when the sky is clear.

End the day with a well deserved meal with the members of the Panauti Community Homestay.
