Nagarkot To Changunarayan Hike 6 hours

  • Covid-19 Safe
  • Shared tour
  • Solo friendly

Ancient Changu Narayan is one of the Kathmandu Valley’s seven UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites, but it is the least visited because of its somewhat out-of-the-way location north of Bhaktapur. Nagarkot however, is conveniently located for an easy downhill walk from Changu Narayan. Starting at Bastola Gaun, you’ll hike through farmland to Changu Narayan, listening to your guide’s interesting stories about the history and culture of this predominantly Newar town. As well as the ancient temples here (with inscriptions dating the site to 464 B.C.E.), there are sweeping views of the whole Kathmandu Valley and the city, and a small museum where you can see beautiful objects of traditional Nepali life. The hike is graded as easy, so travelers with all range of fitness levels should be able to participate.
