Welcome to 10 days Victoria Falls Zimbabwe tour & encounter with the Gorillas of Uganda

The safari starts off in Zimbabwe with the Victoria Falls which are known as one of the 7 Nature Wonders of the World. It gives you a thrilling experience of life in the Victoria Falls from the culture, dances and food. We later connect to Uganda for an amazing Gorilla tracking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. In case you didn’t know, Uganda has 53.3% of the world population of mountain gorillas which means that half of the world population of mountain gorillas is located in Uganda.

Day 1 Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Arrival in Victoria Falls and pick up from the airport to the hotel which is roughly a 30 minutes’ drive, check into the hotel and after relax off the rest of the day. Later in the evening, head out for a sunset cruise followed by a four course dinner while floating on the Zambezi River. Enjoy a Zambezi style four course dinner prepared on board by an executive chef using the finest fresh ingredients. All that’s left to do is sit back, relax and enjoy Zambezi style gourmet cuisine, excellent service and the spectacular scenery. The dinner cruise is great value for money as it combines a sunset cruise with dinner.

Day 2 Victoria Falls  - Pot and Paddle - Zambezi National Park

View the majestic Victoria Falls in all their glory. The Falls are commonly described as one of The Seven Natural Wonders of the World and Zimbabwe boasts some of the most spectacular views. To discover how the Falls were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them, it is well worth taking a guided tour. These tours are extremely informative and end with a visit to the local art and crafts center.

After the tour of the Victoria Falls, head out for the Pot and Paddle activity which is an immersive traditional cooking experience with a Zambezi Raft Drift. This traditional cooking method is done in a cast iron three-legged pot, the potpie, which descended from the Dutch oven (translated as small pot) brought from the Netherlands to South Africa in the 17th century and found in homes and villages of people throughout southern Africa. After preparation and during the cooking process the guest is taken on a upper Zambezi River Canoe or Raft Drift with experienced guides in the Zambezi National Park, after which they are dropped off back at the Pure Africa Waterfront, where they will be enjoy a 3 course meal with their “POT” as the main course. Later transfer back to the lodge for overnight.

Day 3 Zambezi Tram - Historic Bridge - Boma Dinner And Drum Show

A nostalgic tram tour to the historic Victoria Falls Bridge combined with a Gourmet Lunch and Craft Beverages. For the discerning traveler, there is nothing better than a unique experience that lends insight into the history of a place and is led by local guides. Pure Africa's Zambezi Tram Lunch & Historical Bridge Tour combines historic sights and local access with a delicious, selection of food and beverages.

Take yourself back in time to the early 1900’s and travel from the Victoria Falls Railway Station along the same route as the early trains, onto the magnificent feat of engineering, the Victoria Falls Bridge. As you stand on this bridge and marvel at the spectacular views of Victoria Falls, take in the realization that the same engineers and crew gazed upon the same views every day as they toiled to build this bridge from either side of the gorge, eventually meeting in the middle. Then visit the museum for an entertaining recount of the building of the bridge.

After head back to the lodge to freshen up before heading out for the Boma Dinner. The Boma restaurant is an unforgettable African experience infused with Zimbabwean cuisine. The Boma Place of Eating has become a must do whilst in Victoria Falls. Partially open to the African skies, the Boma offers a unique experience that bombards the senses with the tastes, sights, sounds and smells of Africa, together with the warmth and hospitality of Zimbabwe and its people. Specializing in a superb selection of traditional Zimbabwean dishes, The Boma offers a four-course meal combining a mouthwatering choice of starters from the kitchen, soup from the campfire and a substantial barbeque buffet served on cast iron plates. After the dinner head back to the hotel for your final night in Zimbabwe.

Day 4 Victoria Falls - Entebbe (Uganda)

Check out of the hotel based on the hotel check out policy and be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight to Uganda. Various airlines offer flights to Uganda so clients should put in consideration the time of arrival at Entebbe International Airport.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be met by the guide for the day and transferred to the hotel for check in and remainder of the day at leisure based on the time of arrival. (Bed & Breakfast)

Day 5 Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, start your journey at 7:30am travelling South West of Entebbe. It will take you approximately 9 / 8 hours to reach Bwindi which is roughly 562 Kilometers from Entebbe. Our first stop will be at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe which is one of the most known landmarks. The Equator is an imaginary line that divides the earth into North and South Pole. At this point, you stand with one feet in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere.

We shall later have a lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Museum. Continue with the drive through savannah grasslands, herds of long horned Ankole cattle to the Kigezi highlands commonly known as the “Switzerland of Africa” because of the beautiful green cover. The zig zaggling roads up the hills of Kisoro provide you with a wonderful scenery of how blessed Uganda is. The drive will go for roughly 4 hours to get to Rushanga in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 6 Gorilla Tracking - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, at 7:15am drive to the information center 5 minutes from the lodge with packed lunch boxes to prepare for the Gorilla tracking. After briefing from the Ranger guide, traverse to the Gorilla sanctuary to start tracking these lovely creatures. It takes approximately 2 hours to find the gorillas based on where they are located and after you spend 1 hour observing and taking pictures. The time you spend observing these endangered species is worth a trip to any part of the world and can never be forgotten. Clients are expected to have enough drinking water, good hiking shoes, rain jackets in case it rains, gloves if necessary, long sleeved clothes. Time spent with these Gorillas is very priceless. After tracking, transfer back to the lodge for a complete relaxation to immerse in nature.

Day 7 Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will set off for your journey to Lake Bunyonyi at 10:00am one of the best places to be in Uganda for one night before proceeding back to Entebbe. It takes us roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach Arcadia Cottages. Lake Bunyonyi is undoubtedly the loveliest lake in Uganda with 29 islands surrounded by steep terraced hillsides reminiscent of parts of Nepal and also appears on the 5000 Shilling note for Uganda. Bunyonyi becomes more magical in the morning as the mist rises off the placid water.

Day 8 Lake Mburo National Park

This following morning after having breakfast set off at around 10:00am head off for Lake Mburo National Park the closest park to the city and very famous for Zebras. The drive takes approximately 5 hours depending on the time spent on any stop over.

Day 9 Lake Mburo National Park - Entebbe

Early in the morning at around 6:30am, head off a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park to view some wildlife before setting off for your drive to Entebbe.

Day 10 Departure

Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for flight back home carrying memories about Uganda along with you. The hotel is 10 minutes’ drive away from the Airport. If possible clients are advised not to take very early morning flights so as to have some time to personal shopping.
