Lake Nakuru, a small shallow alkaline lake on the edge of the town of Nakuru lies about 160 kilometers north of Nairobi.
Lake Nakuru National Park is known as an ornithological paradise by bird-watchers because the lake is world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth which boasts anywhere between one and two million lesser and greater pink flamingos that feed on the abundant algae thriving in the lakes warm waters.
A day trip to Lake Nakuru National Park offers a well worthwhile wildlife experience. The park boasts a large population of Rhinos, Lions, Giraffe, Buffalo, Leopard, Water buck as well as many other species of game.
In addition, the highlight of Lake Nakuru is its mass of Greater and Lessor Flamingo which can be found feeding in the shallows of the lake. Also, one of the most promising parks to see rhinos and leopards. This is a daily excursion safari.
6:00 am: You will picked up from your accommodation in Nairobi for the Lake Nakuru National Park day trip tour.7:30 am: Scheduled stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to look into the valley from the escarpment to see Mt Longonot, Mt Suswa, the rift valley floor, lake Naivasha and the hot geysers of Hell's Gate.9:00 am: Arrive at Nakuru national park full day game drive. Start the game drive around the lake to see great white pelicans, flamingos, ibis, , plovers, storks, herons and many others. Go to the baboon cliff to have a bird's eye view of the lake. Enjoy game driving until lunch hour. 1:00 pm: Enjoy a picnic lunch from the Makalia waterfalls camping site under the most wonderful waterfall. You will be in good company of some wildlife at the quiet and scenic campsite. Depending on how much wildlife is we come across, we will leave the park between 15:00 and 16:00 to arrive back in Nairobi between 18:00 and 19:00 and we drop you at your hotel. Don't miss this opportunity to get up close with some of Kenya's most amazing birds and other wildlife.
