3-Day Fly-In Safari From Zanzibar To Selous 3 days

Day 1: Zanzibar - Selous – Afternoon Game Drive.

Begin your adventure with a short scenic flight from Zanzibar to the Selous airstrip, taking in aerial views of Tanzania’s diverse landscapes. Upon arrival, your safari guide will greet you and transfer you by 4x4 vehicle to your lodge or tented camp, ideally located within the park or along the Rufiji River. After settling in and enjoying a hearty lunch, embark on your first afternoon game drive through Selous — a pristine wilderness teeming with wildlife. As you explore the varied terrain, keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, and the abundant hippos and crocodiles that thrive near the waterways.

Day 2: Safari in Selous.

After breakfast, set out for a full-day game drive through the vast and varied landscapes of the Selous Game Reserve. You'll traverse riverine forests, open plains, acacia woodlands, and lake shores, each offering unique wildlife encounters. Throughout the day, watch for large herds of buffalo and elephants, graceful antelopes, territorial lions, and, with some luck, the elusive African wild dog, one of Selous’ rarest and most thrilling inhabitants. A picnic lunch in the bush keeps you close to nature and allows you to venture deeper into remote areas of the reserve. In the evening, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation, with the option to add a scenic boat safari along the Rufiji River for a tranquil end to an adventurous day.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive - Zanzibar.

Begin your last day in Selous with an early morning game drive, taking advantage of the cool dawn hours when predators are most active, and birdlife is vibrant. This is a great opportunity for final wildlife sightings and to soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the African bush one more time. After the drive, return to your lodge for breakfast before heading to the airstrip. Board your scenic return flight to Zanzibar, arriving by early afternoon, perfectly timed for continuing your beachside relaxation or connecting to your next destination.
