The reserve covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of the imagination; endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills.

Afternoon game drive to see the sun-downer as you trail the Big 5, lions in large prides, elephants, buffalo, zebras and numerous plain game. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. The meals are buffet, enjoyed either in the dining or under the shade of indigenous trees. During your stay in Mara you will be driven by the river which is a great place to spot wildlife. This area is a photographer delight where with any luck you will be able to take amazing pictures of the hippos and crocodiles in the water. Day 2 Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Full day spent exploring the park in search of the big 5 trailing the wildebeest migration. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons Maasai Mara has greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. There is a particularly dramatic spectacle from July to October, the annual migration of huge herds of Gnus and Zebras, predators such as Hyenas, Jackals, Leopards and Lions closely follow these herds. The plain is literally covered with these animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are common place. The migration, now declared the Seventh Wonder of the World takes place from end July to September.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna: lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
