The region is known for its cultural diversity. The tribes that live in the Lower Omo Valley are believed to be among the most fascinating on the continent of Africa and around the world.

Day 1 Addis Ababa City Tour

Arrival in Addis Ababa. Check in to your hotel and after a couple of hours of rest, start a city tour of Addis Ababa. Visit the National Museum, Entoto Mary’s Church and Merkato Market.

Day 2 Addis Ababa - Gurage Tribe - Arba Minch

After breakfast drive to Arba Minch via Hosanna Road. En-route visit to the Gurage people's village. The Gurage are known to be Ethiopian-Chinese as they are very hard-working people who have controlled much of the economy in Trade. They have a custom of eating a traditional food called “Kocho” made out of false banana. Take time at the house and their backyard farm and learn from their culture. There is a lunch break in the town of Hosana. O/n in Hotel

Day 3 Arba Minch - Chencha - Dorze Tribe

After breakfast, head to Chencha. A settlement for the “Dorze” people known for a culture of cotton weaving and also bamboo-made bee-hive-shaped houses. Take time in the village visiting houses. Spend time at the market of Chencha which is colorful on Tuesday and then back to Arba Minch. After lunch break head for a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the Crocodile and Hippos. O/n in Hotel

Day 4 Arba Minch - Key Afer - Hammer Tribe - Turmi - Dimeka

After breakfast, you will be driven to Turmi (290 Km from Arbaminch).En route visit Konso villages (180 Km from Turmi, famous for their colourfully costumed dresses, impressive terracing of land - recently registered as World Heritage by UNESCO, and engraved wooden statues and grave markers).

Continue driving to Turmi en route visiting Tsemay and Benna tribes. If it is a market day, you will visit the colourful markets of Key Afer and Dimeka markets. (Market days for these markets are Tuesday, Saturday and Thursday)

If it is not the market day you can take a lunch break at Key After and arrive in Turmi in the afternoon. Today you can take a walk to the villages of the Hammer people who enjoy body decoration and wear quantities of colourful beads and clay hair buns with Ostrich feathers spend a pleasant afternoon with friendly Hamar people.

Day 5 Omorate - Dassench Tribe - Turmi - Hammer Tribe

An early morning drive will take you to Omorate to visit the Dassench tribe (75 Km from Turmi). From there, you will take a boat trip on the Omo River and visit the Dassench village.

Then you will get back to Turmi for lunch. You will then walk to the non-touristic Hammer Village to explore the Hammer tribes (best known for elaborate hairstyles, and body painting using clays and vegetable pigments to make fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms and legs).

Optional excursion: attend the bull jumping - if possible and available with luck. O/n in Hotel

Day 6 Jinka - Karo Village

Depart for Jinka, via Dimeka or Key Afar. Tuesdays and Saturdays are market days in Dimeka, which is one of the most colourful markets in the area and is visited by many tribes, including Hamer, Benna and Karo. Afterwards, continue to Jinka. Overnight in Jinka (camping, hotel or lodge).

Day 7 Mursi Tribe

In the morning after breakfast excursion to the Mursi tribe village known for their attractive culture, women wearing large clay plates into their lower lips. Then drive back to Jinka.

Day 8 Jinka - Addis Ababa

Morning visit the Jinka museum which consists of different cultural artifacts.

After lunch fly depart to the airport to fly back to Addis Ababa. After arrival in Addis Ababa, day use room or depart to your country.
