Begin at the Citadel of Salah El Din, an imposing 12th-century fortress crowned by the Mohamed Ali Mosque and sweeping views over the city. After lunch, step into the hushed sanctuaries of Coptic Cairo, including the Hanging Church, the Church of Sergius & Bachus, and Ben Ezra Synagogue, some of the oldest houses of worship in Egypt. The afternoon brings you to Khan El Khalili bazaar and the historic El Muizz Street, lined with centuries-old mosques and Islamic architecture. A private guide and vehicle make this a relaxed, comprehensive introduction to Cairo's religious and cultural layers.
We'll pick you up from your hotel and drive to the Citadel for a private guided tour of Salah al-Din's 12th-century fort: built to defend the city against Crusader attacks and the seat of government for almost 700 years. Visit the mosque of Muhammad Ali, it dates back to 19th century and enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the Citadel's terrace, then the Lunch will be served in one of the local restaurants, followed by a visit to the old Coptic area including the Hanging Church, the Church of Sergius & Bachus and Ben Ezra Synagogue (Jewish temple), then will transfer you to explore Khan El Khalili, Cairo's old bazaar as well as visit a unique part of old Islamic Cairo which is El Muizz Street that has a few old beautiful mosques, then we will transfer you back to your hotel.
