Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda to roll out visa
- The introduction of a single tourist visa is as a result of a joint initiative by Presidents Paul Kagame, Yoweri Museveni and Uhuru Kenyatta of Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya respectively.
Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda have agreed to roll out an East African single tourist visa in January next year.
The introduction of a single tourist visa is as a result of a joint initiative by Presidents Paul Kagame, Yoweri Museveni and Uhuru Kenyatta of Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya respectively.
Currently, tourists travelling across the region must obtain separate visas for each nation.
Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda are partnering in order to simplify travel arrangements for holidaymakers as well as creating a new brand for the region.
The single tourist visa is expected to boost regional travel and value addition to the tourism product offered by the three countries.
According to the deal, a single entry visa will cost $100. The current cost of a single entry visa for Kenya and Uganda is $50, while Rwanda charges $30.
