A full day photography trip to Essaouira from Marrakech is by far the most appreciated day tour by our clients: many of them discover that hidden gem for the first time and decide right away they will come back for sure to a short break in the peaceful town.

Through the trip, you will even have the capacity to enjoy distinct landscapes in the surrounding countryside.

We will start our photography day trip to Essaouira in the morning at 10:00am on the doorstep of your accommodation in Marrakech. Essaouira is located at 175 km from Marrakech; it is seaside medieval city. The drive is about 2 hours and a half with a possible 30 minutes stops.

In this trip, we will drive through the local villages, enjoying the natural beauty of rural areas.

We will stop at Ounaghaa which offers beautiful scenery, an area famous for the argan trees. At our first stop we’ll have the opportunity to photograph the unusual climbing goats of Argan.

The Argan tree - a relict species of the tertiary age - is very well adapted to the drought and to the difficult environmental conditions of Morocco’s southwest. While in danger of extinction, it is currently protected by UNESCO.

At our next stop, we’ll have the opportunity to photograph the incomparable panoramic view of Essaouira before entering this beautiful city, its a charming and artistic blue and white reflects the old city and ocean.

After about ten minutes drive, we will enter the city - as you come over the final stretch of road from Marrakech to Essaouira, the city and Atlantic Ocean opens out before your eyes. You can smell the salt in the air and feel the sea breeze - it's really a wonderful feeling that improves your mood and energy quickly.

In the city, you will have a short walk across the town till the Saqala the fishing harbor which provides spectacular views over the Portuguese ramparts.

You will find a marketplace where both sellers and buyers make deals or purchases on the boats. Early in the morning, boats packed with fish of several coastal provinces will be anchored along the banks of sea port along around 100m. They will have different types of fish at the stalls aligned at the seawall in the historic, fortified port to attract customers to buy with them. This is a common and unique sign you can only find in the in the historic port area of Essaouira.

We will share a mindful eating experience, we will be able to select exactly what we want to eat and it will be cooked right before our eyes, but equally memorable to be able to share a meal with local people.

Usually, we buy sardines and take them to the local restaurant around 15 min walk and have them cooked at small make-shift grills, we will sit at a table laid simply with some white paper, a selection of olives, Moroccan tomato and onion salad, and a spicy salsa before us, as well as bread (which comes as standard with almost every Moroccan meal) to accompany our freshly grilled lunch.

If you are vegetarian we can buy vegetables at local market and we can make a good delicious Moroccan salad with the help of cooker at a local restaurant.

After having a lunch break 1 hour after we'll have a Moroccan mint tea.

Take a stroll in medina, its amusing labyrinth of narrows streets which look like a maze, explore the small quaint streets full of Artists and artisans making and selling their craftwork. Life here is quiet and relaxed. During this mindful walking tour you will discover and take photo shots in the most vibrant and picturesque part of Essaouira.

The ambiance of this interesting walk is fascinating as you discover for yourself the old Portuguese fortifications where Game of Thrones movie were shot (season 3).

Before ending your trip and returning to Marrakech city, we go for a walk barefoot on the beach and look at the waves, the endless sea, the sand, the landscape, the blue sky etc. This activity is designed to master your photography skills during sunset and awaken your creative process.

By walking in the sand of the beach you will be more relaxed and it will comfort your mind and your spirit.

Back on the land, we drive back to Marrakech city and while leaning back you have time to remember an unforgettable day full of colorful impressions. Drop off at your stay.

The tour will be ended around 20h00pm (local time) then we retrun back to Marrakech. It will takes almost 2hours and 50 min depending on the night traffic. We expect to be back at Marrakech around 22h50.
